Llyn Gwynant Campsite

The first light catches the surface of Llyn Gwynant before it reaches your tent, turning the lake silver against the dark shoulders of Snowdon. Woodsmoke drifts between pitches as early risers kindle breakfast fires, and the only other sound is water lapping at the shoreline just metres away.

This is Snowdonia camping at its finest — perfect for families, wild swimmers, and anyone who wants the mountains on their doorstep without sacrificing creature comforts. Tents and campervans spread across meadows that slope gently towards the lake, with the Watkin Path beginning its climb to Snowdon's summit directly from the site. The location puts you deep in the heart of the national park, surrounded by some of Wales' most dramatic peaks, yet facilities keep things civilised with hot showers and an onsite shop.

Dive straight into the lake from your pitch, cast a line from the shore, or simply sit with a morning brew watching mist burn off the ridges. Dogs roam free without extra charge, campfires are welcomed (check current policy on arrival), and the smell of fresh-baked bread often wafts across the site. The atmosphere is properly outdoorsy — boots-by-the-tent-door, slightly muddy, utterly content.
