Bracelands to the Wye

Follows woodland paths and forest tracks through the Royal Forest of Dean down to the River Wye viewpoint. Mostly gentle descent on well-maintained trails, though some sections can be muddy after rain. Suitable for older children with reasonable stamina, but too uneven for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near wildlife areas. Rewards you with stunning river valley views and ancient woodland atmosphere, plus possible deer sightings in quieter morning hours.

Highmeadow Trail

Loops through mixed woodland and open meadows near Highmeadow Woods with gentle inclines throughout. Perfect for families with buggies on the wider sections, though some narrower woodland paths may require a carrier for very young children. Dogs welcome and will love the variety of terrain. Offers peaceful countryside views and seasonal wildflowers, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon stroll with plenty of sniffing opportunities for four-legged friends.

Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail

Meanders through ancient woodland on well-maintained paths with gentle inclines, perfect for families and pushchair-friendly in most sections. Dogs welcome on leads. The real draw is discovering over 20 striking contemporary sculptures hidden among the trees – from giant nests to mysterious stone circles – turning a forest ramble into an outdoor art gallery. Takes roughly 90 minutes at a leisurely pace with plenty of stopping points for curious kids.
