Burgh Castle Roman Fort Trail

Circles a remarkably preserved 3rd-century Roman fort with walls still standing 4.5m high. Flat, hard-surfaced path ideal for buggies and wheelchairs, perfect for families with toddlers. Dogs welcome on leads. Takes in sweeping views over Breydon Water where you can spot wading birds, plus interpretation boards bring the history alive – kids love imagining Roman soldiers on watch.

Burgh Castle Circular

Loops around the impressive Roman fort ruins at Burgh Castle, with flat grassy paths and minimal incline across the ancient earthworks. Perfect for families with buggies (mostly firm ground) and dogs are welcome. The massive 3rd-century walls offer fantastic views over Breydon Water, and it's short enough for little legs while packing in real historical impact – one of England's best-preserved Roman shore forts.

Waveney Valley Walks - Somerleyton

Follows the River Waveney through gentle farmland and woodland near Somerleyton Hall's estate, mostly flat with well-maintained paths. Suitable for older children but uneven sections and stiles make it tricky for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Lovely riverside scenery with chances to spot herons and kingfishers, plus glimpses of the Victorian hall's grounds make this a peaceful half-day outing.
