Follows a 66km pilgrimage trail from Chipping Ongar to Bradwell-on-Sea's ancient chapel, crossing gently rolling Essex farmland and finishing with flat coastal marshes. Mostly level terrain with good paths, though some sections can be muddy after rain. Best tackled in stages rather than one go – not ideal for buggies due to length and stiles, but suitable for older children on shorter sections. Dogs welcome throughout. Wide, well-maintained paths make it manageable for older children, though tree roots and occasional muddy patches rule out buggies. Dogs actively welcomed on leads near grazing areas. Expect varied habitats from ancient oak woodland to open common, with strong seasonal colour and good birdwatching opportunities around Blakes Wood's quiet glades.
