South West Coast Path (Section 4: Combe Martin to Woolacombe)

Tackles dramatic North Devon cliffs with relentless steep ascents and descents through Ilfracombe and over Morte Point. Not suitable for buggies or young children—this is rugged, challenging terrain requiring good fitness and sturdy boots. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near cliff edges and livestock. Rewards with spectacular coastal panoramas, hidden coves, and some of the South West's most exhilarating walking—perfect for experienced hikers seeking proper adventure.

Woolacombe Community Trail

Loops through Woolacombe village and surrounding farmland on mostly flat to gentle terrain with a few moderate climbs. Suitable for families with older children who can manage stiles and uneven field paths, but not buggy-friendly. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Offers lovely views across the valley and out to Woolacombe's coastline, with a good mix of lanes, footpaths and quiet countryside – perfect for an easier local walk when the coastal paths feel too exposed or challenging.

South West Coast Path (Section 5: Woolacombe to Braunton)

National Trails

Follows Devon's stunning coastline with **moderate to steep sections**, particularly around Baggy Point's dramatic headland. Suitable for older children with good stamina, but **not buggy-friendly** due to clifftop paths, steps, and uneven terrain. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and ground-nesting birds (seasonal restrictions possible). Rewards with sweeping Atlantic views, sandy beaches at Croyde and Saunton Sands, and excellent birdwatching opportunities along windswept clifftops.
