Aviemore Holiday Park

The scent of pine resin drifts across the park as dawn light catches the granite shoulders of the Cairngorms rising above the tree line.

This is Aviemore base camp territory — cosy pods and chalets that suit families chasing funicular days on the mountain, couples here for winter skiing or summer Munro-bagging, and anyone who wants the wilderness on the doorstep without sleeping on the ground. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so you can bring your trail companion along. The town's outdoor shops, après-ski buzz, and that particular Highland energy are all within easy reach, while Rothiemurchus ancient forest stretches out beyond the park — anglers often slip down to Rothiemurchus Fishery for an evening cast before heading back.

Expect a functional, well-placed site rather than a boutique hideaway — this is about location and comfort after big days out. Campfires need checking on arrival, facilities aren't extensively listed but the pitches deliver shelter and warmth when the hills have taken their toll.
