The morning sun slants through pine branches onto timber chalets that smell faintly of cedar and last night's woodsmoke drifting from the firepit.

This is a spot for couples after a proper unplug or small families who want the wild-camping feel without sleeping on the ground — timber chalets and insulated pods with enough comfort to make a weekend stick. WiFi's there if you need it, but most people seem to switch off. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so worth asking ahead if you're bringing one. The site sits in quiet countryside where you're more likely to hear birdsong than traffic, and there's a coarse fishing lake just a few minutes' walk if you fancy an hour by the water with a rod.

Campfires are allowed but check the current rules when you arrive — they'll let you know what's sensible depending on conditions. It's a low-key, fairly off-grid kind of place: no fancy restaurant, no playground, just solid shelter and space to breathe. Expect peace, a bit of wood-cabin charm, and not much else — which is exactly the point.
