Jorvic Way

Spans 104km across Yorkshire's varied landscape, mixing flat riverside stretches with moderate rolling hills and some steep climbs through the North York Moors. Terrain includes footpaths, bridleways, and quiet lanes – uneven underfoot in places, making it unsuitable for buggies and challenging for young children over the full distance. Dogs welcome throughout. Links York to the coast, offering excellent historical landmarks, woodland, and moorland scenery across a genuine long-distance adventur

Millennium Way

Traces a 23-mile linear route from York Minster to the Humber Bridge, celebrating the new millennium. Mostly flat riverside paths and field trails with gentle inclines around the Yorkshire Wolds. Suitable for older children with stamina, but the length makes it impractical for buggies or very young kids. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Worth doing for the historical bookends – magnificent York Minster starting point and stunning Humber Bridge views at the finish.

Campus Tree Trail

Meanders through the University of York's parkland campus, entirely flat and paved, perfect for families with buggies and pushchairs. Dogs welcome on leads. This gentle nature trail showcases the campus's impressive tree collection with interpretive signage identifying species—ideal for a relaxed educational stroll combining fresh air with botanical interest, accessible year-round regardless of weather.
