Ullswater Way - Dalemain Loop

Loops through parkland and woodland around the historic Dalemain estate with mostly flat, well-maintained paths suitable for families and buggies on drier sections. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Gentle terrain with occasional tree roots makes this an easy outing combining lovely Ullswater views with glimpses of the grand house and its deer park. Perfect for a short leg-stretch between longer lakeside walks, especially in spring when daffodils carpet the grounds.

Aira Force and Gowbarrow Park Trail, Ullswater Valley

Combines woodland paths and open parkland with moderate climbs to reach the dramatic 65-foot Aira Force waterfall via stone bridges and viewpoints. The route includes steep sections and uneven stepped terrain near the falls, making it unsuitable for buggies and challenging for very young children, though older kids usually manage well. Dogs welcome on leads throughout. Spectacular in autumn or after rain when the water thunders down, plus rewarding Ullswater views from Gowbarrow's higher ground.

Eamont Way

Follows the River Eamont through Eden Valley with gentle, mostly flat terrain along riverside paths and quiet lanes. Suitable for families and generally buggy-friendly on paved sections, though some stiles and field gates may require lifting. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near livestock in pastures. Offers peaceful waterside scenery, glimpses of Brougham Castle, and excellent birdwatching opportunities along this accessible, low-level Cumbrian route connecting Ullswater to Penrith.
