Ideal for a leisurely day out with good surfaces throughout and plenty of spots to pause. The full stretch is long for little legs, but easily split into shorter sections with multiple access points along the way.

Follows a marked red trail through mixed woodland and open countryside with gentle to moderate inclines throughout. Suitable for families with older children who are comfortable with longer walks, though uneven paths and stiles make it unsuitable for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Offers lovely views across the Scottish Borders landscape and peaceful stretches through mature forestry, ideal for spotting woodland wildlife and enjoying a half-day ramble away from crowds.

River Avon Heritage Trail

Follows the River Avon through wooded gorges and open countryside between Muiravonside and Linlithgow, with moderate inclines and some steep sections near the waterfalls. The uneven, sometimes muddy paths aren't suitable for buggies, though older children who enjoy scrambling will love exploring the ruins and gorge views. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock.
