Fen Rivers Way (Final Cambridge section)

Follows flat, paved paths along the River Cam through central Cambridge, passing college backs, punts, and meadows – perfect for buggies and families. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Mostly level tarmac and boardwalks make this an easy, accessible stroll with plenty of cafés and historic sights. Ideal for combining gentle exercise with sightseeing, though it can get busy with tourists and cyclists during peak times.

Stow-cum-Quy Fen SSSI

Loops through a protected fenland Site of Special Scientific Interest with flat, easy terrain on grass paths and boardwalks that can be muddy after rain. Perfect for families and older children, though not buggy-friendly due to uneven ground and narrow sections. Dogs welcome on leads to protect ground-nesting birds. Rare fenland wildlife, dragonflies in summer, and big skies make this a peaceful nature escape.

Horningsea and Clayhithe River Walk

Follows the River Cam between two charming villages, mostly flat with occasional gentle inclines along the riverbank towpath. Suitable for older children but not buggies due to uneven paths and stiles. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Offers peaceful waterside scenery, passing historic locks and weirs, with excellent birdwatching opportunities and pub stops at either end making it ideal for a leisurely half-day outing.
