Dart Valley Trail

Follows the River Dart through stunning wooded valleys and open moorland with moderate climbs and some steep sections in places. Mostly suitable for older children but trickier terrain and stiles make it challenging for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. The dramatic riverside scenery, historic sites, and variety of landscapes from gentle riverside paths to rugged Dartmoor make this a rewarding full or partial day out.

Greenway Walk

Follows a level, traffic-free former railway line with smooth surfaced paths – ideal for families, buggies and dogs. The flat terrain makes for easy walking or cycling through peaceful Devon countryside, with minimal incline throughout. Perfect for a leisurely outing where you can chat side-by-side, spot wildlife, and let kids burn energy safely away from roads. The converted railway heritage adds interest without demanding effort.

Torbay Totnes Trail (3T)

Follows a disused railway line between Torbay and Totnes, offering mostly flat, traffic-free walking on a well-surfaced path. Excellent for families with young children and buggies, and dogs are welcome on leads. The gentle gradient and smooth terrain make it accessible for all abilities, while scenic views across the South Devon countryside and glimpses of the coast reward your efforts. Perfect for a leisurely linear walk or cycling, with refreshment stops in villages along the way.

South West Coast Path (Section 42: Brixham to Babbacombe)

National Trails

Follows dramatic Devon coastline with steep, challenging ascents and descents through Torquay's clifftop sections. Not suitable for buggies or very young children due to rugged terrain, steps, and exposed cliff edges. Dogs welcome on leads, especially near livestock and nesting seabirds. Rewards with stunning red sandstone cliffs, secluded coves, and sweeping views across Tor Bay, plus charming seaside towns perfect for refreshment stops.
