East Devon Way

Stretches across 40 miles of East Devon countryside, linking Exmouth to Lyme Regis through rolling farmland, wooded valleys and clifftop sections. Terrain varies from gentle coastal paths to moderate inland climbs, with some steep ascents near Beer Head. Best tackled in shorter sections rather than one go—most segments suit families with older children who can manage 2-3 hour walks, but buggies won't cope with stiles and uneven ground. Sid Valley Ring

Circles the charming Sid Valley through mixed farmland, woodland and riverside paths with moderate climbs in and out of the valley sides. Terrain varies from quiet lanes to field edges and can be muddy after rain, making it challenging for buggies but manageable for older children who don't mind hills. Dogs welcome throughout, though livestock gates are common. The route offers lovely views across the valley, glimpses of the River Sid, and a real taste of East Devon's rural character.

South West Coast Path (Section 45: Sidmouth to Seaton)

Follows dramatic red sandstone cliffs along the Jurassic Coast with some steep, challenging ascents and descents through landslip areas. Not suitable for buggies or young children due to uneven coastal terrain, narrow clifftop sections, and significant elevation changes. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and cliff edges. Delivers outstanding coastal scenery, fossil-rich beaches, and views across Lyme Bay—a must-do section of England's longest waymarked trail.
