Follows the River Aire for roughly 80km from Leeds to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales, mixing flat canal towpaths with moderate moorland climbs as you head north. Excellent for families on the easier southern sections, though buggies won't manage the rockier Dales terrain. Dogs welcome throughout. Worth doing for the dramatic transformation from industrial heritage through market towns to limestone country, with proper Yorkshire scenery and reliable riverside pubs for breaks.

Loops through scenic countryside on the edge of Bolton Abbey Estate with moderate climbs and varied terrain including field paths and woodland tracks. Suitable for older children with stamina, but not buggy-friendly due to stiles and uneven ground. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Rewards walkers with riverside sections along the Wharfe, historic landmarks including abbey ruins views, and classic Yorkshire Dales scenery without the crowds of the main valley routes.
