Hoxa Head
Follows a dramatic clifftop path along South Ronaldsay's southern tip, with steep drops and uneven grassy terrain requiring good mobility. Expect moderate climbs and exposed sections – not suitable for buggies or young children. Dogs welcome but keep close to the cliff edge. Rewards with stunning views across the Pentland Firth to mainland Scotland, rich birdlife including seabirds nesting on rock faces, and the sense of standing at Orkney's wild southern frontier.
