Swale Way
Follows the River Swale for over 100km from its source in the Yorkshire Dales to the edge of York, mixing riverside meadows with gentle dale climbs and occasional steeper sections near Reeth and Richmond. Suitable for families on flatter eastern stretches, though western moorland stages demand stamina. Dogs welcome throughout but livestock gates are frequent. The changing landscapes—from wild upland to pastoral lowland—and historic market towns like Richmond make this a rewarding multi-day trek
