Innocent Railway

Follows the historic railway path through Edinburgh's south side on flat, tarmac surface—perfect for buggies, young children, and dogs. Runs from Holyrood through tunnels and cuttings to Duddingston, offering an easy, traffic-free route with glimpses of Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. The unusual tunnels and railway heritage make it genuinely interesting, plus you can extend to Innocent Railway Path Café at Duddingston for a stop. Completely level throughout, ideal for accessible walking.

Edinburgh core path - Claremont and Easter Road

Connects residential Leith areas via mostly flat, paved paths suitable for buggies and young families. Dogs welcome on this urban core path that offers easy access to local shops, community green spaces, and quiet streets away from main roads. Ideal for a gentle neighbourhood stroll or cycling commute rather than a countryside walk, with minimal elevation changes throughout. Useful for linking to Edinburgh's wider core path network if exploring the city on foot.

The Royal Mile

Strolls along Edinburgh's famous historic street from the Castle to Holyrood Palace, completely flat and paved throughout. Perfect for families with buggies and dogs on leads, passing iconic landmarks, closes (alleyways), shops and street performers.
