John Muir Way (Edinburgh to Prestonpans)
Follows a flat, paved coastal path from Edinburgh to Prestonpans, mostly along old railway lines and the Firth of Forth shoreline. Perfect for families, buggies, and dogs – there are no stiles and minimal incline throughout. You'll pass Holyrood Park, Portobello Beach, and Musselburgh's historic harbour, with plenty of spots to stop for refreshments. This section of the John Muir Way offers brilliant Firth views and easy walking on a route that celebrates Scotland's pioneering conservationist.
