Traverses 89km of Suffolk's distinctive 'Sandlings' heathland between Ipswich and Southwold, following sandy tracks through pine forests, open heaths, and coastal marshes. Terrain varies from flat riverside paths to gentle undulations across heathland; some sections cross working farmland on quiet lanes. Not suitable for buggies due to sandy, uneven surfaces and stiles. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near grazing livestock and ground-nesting birds on the heaths. Offers exceptional wildlife spott

Pink Trail, Dunwich Heath

Winds through heather-clad heathland with sweeping coastal views, mostly flat with gentle undulations on well-maintained paths. Suitable for families with older children who can manage the distance, but uneven sandy sections make it tricky for buggies. Dogs welcome and love the open terrain. The mix of purple heather (summer), gorse, and glimpses of the North Sea makes this a stunning National Trust classic, especially at sunset.
