Baysbrown Farm

The light comes late and golden here, filtering down through the high fells that shelter Baysbrown Farm, where the only real noise is the beck running over stones and the occasional bleat echoing off Langdale Pikes.

This is one for hillwalkers and anyone wanting to wake up properly in the Lakes — tent pitchers and campervan folk who don't need bells and whistles, just a farmer's field with mountain air and direct access to some of England's finest ridge routes. Great Langdale puts you within striking distance of the Langdale Horseshoe, Pike o' Blisco, and the switchbacks up to Stickle Tarn, so if you're here for the fells rather than the frills, you're in exactly the right valley. Dog walkers should ask ahead — it's working farmland, so livestock considerations apply.

Facilities are basic farm camping standard, the kind where you bring what you need and leave with muddy boots and clear lungs. Campfires depend on conditions — check when you arrive, especially in dry spells. The vibe is proper Lakes camping: quiet, unpolished, and utterly honest about what it offers.
