Pennine Way (Malham to Horton in Ribblesdale)

National Trails

Follows the iconic Pennine Way across dramatic limestone country, climbing steadily from Malham through meadows and onto exposed moorland with rocky sections before descending into Horton. Expect moderate-to-challenging terrain with stiles, uneven paths, and a few steep ascents—not suitable for buggies or very young children. Wharfe Wood trail

Meanders through mixed woodland along the River Wharfe with gentle, undulating paths that can be muddy after rain. Suitable for families with older children who can manage uneven ground, but not ideal for buggies due to tree roots and narrow sections. Dogs welcome and will love the riverside sniffing opportunities. Perfect for a peaceful nature walk with birdsong, dappled shade, and glimpses of the river through the trees.
