Merrick Trail
Climbs steeply through forestry and open moorland to reach Merrick, Southern Scotland's highest peak at 843m. Challenging terrain with rocky sections and significant elevation gain – not suitable for young children or buggies. Dogs welcome but must be fit and capable on rough ground. Rewards with spectacular views across Galloway Hills, Loch Trool, and on clear days to Arran and Ireland. A proper hill walk requiring decent fitness, navigation skills, and appropriate mountain footwear.
