St Helena Trail

Winds through gentle Suffolk countryside near the village of St Helena, combining quiet field paths and woodland sections with minimal elevation change. Perfect for families with children and pushchair-friendly in dry conditions, though some gates may require lifting. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Offers peaceful farmland views and connects to the wider network of Ipswich Fringe paths, making it ideal for a short countryside escape without venturing far from town.

Orange Trail, Dunwich Heath

Loops through classic Suffolk heathland with panoramic coastal views across bracken, gorse and purple heather (stunning late summer). Mostly flat with firm sandy paths, though some sections get soft underfoot after rain. Excellent for families—manageable distance with wildlife spotting opportunities including Dartford warblers. Dogs welcome and will love it. The National Trust tea room at the start makes a perfect finish point.

Woof Walk, Dunwich Heath

Loops through open heathland and coastal scrub with gentle undulations and sandy paths that can be soft underfoot. Perfect for dogs (hence the name) with water bowls at the visitor centre, though pushchairs will struggle on the uneven terrain and young children may tire on the full loop. Offers sweeping views across Dunwich Heath towards the sea and excellent year-round wildlife spotting, particularly breeding Dartford warblers in summer and stunning purple heather displays in late summer.
