Acorn Bank to Temple Sowerby Walk, Acorn Bank

Follows gently undulating farmland and quiet lanes between National Trust's Acorn Bank estate and Temple Sowerby village. Mostly flat with one moderate incline, manageable for older children but the stiles and uneven field paths make buggies impractical. Dogs welcome throughout on leads near livestock. Lovely Eden Valley views, ancient woodland sections around Acorn Bank, and a chance to explore the village's red sandstone cottages and traditional Cumbrian architecture.

Teesdale Way (Dufton to Middleton in Teesdale)

Follows the River Tees through spectacular Pennine scenery, passing High Force waterfall and flower-rich meadows. Terrain varies from riverside paths to moorland tracks with moderate climbs—some steep sections near waterfalls. Generally suitable for older children with good stamina, but too rugged for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. A rewarding route showcasing North Pennines AONB's dramatic landscapes and geological features.

Lady Anne's Way

Follows the historic route of Lady Anne Clifford across the Pennines between Skipton and Penrith, covering 160km of varied terrain from gentle valley paths to steep moorland ascents. Not suitable for buggies or young children due to length, remote sections, and challenging climbs over high passes. Dogs welcome but be prepared for livestock and exposed upland areas.
