Pennine Way (Hawes to Tan Hill)

Herriot Way

Follows 79.3km of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, connecting locations from James Herriot's veterinary tales. Terrain varies from gentle riverside paths to steep moorland climbs with exposed sections. Not suitable for buggies; older children who enjoy long-distance walking will cope with sections, though commit to the full route over multiple days. Dogs welcome throughout. Delivers proper Dales drama—sweeping views, stone villages, and genuine solitude away from tourist honeypots.
