The track drops down through the wild tangle of Badrallach, and suddenly there it is: the sea glittering silver between the hills, absolute silence broken only by gulls and the occasional bleat of a hill sheep.
This is proper remote Scotland — a rough-and-ready spot for tent campers and compact campervans who don't mind basic and genuinely don't need frills. You're on the northwestern edge of nowhere here, the kind of place walkers and sea kayakers seek out when they want proper solitude. The track in isn't for the faint-hearted or low-slung vehicles. Dogs are welcome but worth checking ahead, and the same goes for campfires — ask when you arrive rather than assume.
Facilities aren't the draw; the location is. Expect a simple, honest pitch with views that make you forget about hot showers. It's quiet, it's beautiful, and it's absolutely not for everyone — which is precisely why some people keep coming back.
