Somerset Space Walk

Follows the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal towpath on flat, well-maintained surfaces perfect for buggies, wheelchairs, and families with young children. Dogs welcome on leads. This unique 6-mile linear route features scale models of the solar system positioned at relative distances – walk from the Sun to Pluto whilst enjoying peaceful waterside wildlife and canal boats. Educational and accessible, ideal for curious kids and leisurely strolls.

East Deane Way

Traces the scenic valley of the River Tone through rolling Somerset countryside with moderate inclines and occasional steeper sections near woodland edges. Mostly suitable for older children but uneven paths and stiles make it challenging with buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Delivers lovely riverside stretches, ancient hedgerows, and peaceful farmland views that showcase the Blackdown Hills' gentler side—ideal for a half-day exploration away from crowds.

Taunton Heritage Trail

Winds through Taunton's historic town centre on paved streets, completely flat and ideal for buggies, wheelchairs and families with toddlers. Dogs welcome on leads. Passes key landmarks including the castle, medieval churches, Georgian townhouses and canal basin—perfect for history buffs wanting a self-guided architectural tour. Takes 1-2 hours depending on stops, with plenty of cafés and benches along the way.
