The route follows part of a historic corpse road once used to carry bodies for burial. Moderate gradients make it manageable for older children, but uneven terrain and stiles rule out buggies. Seat How Summit Trail

Climbs steadily through woodland to Seat How's rocky summit with sweeping views over Bassenthwaite Lake and the northern fells. The ascent is moderate but consistent, with some uneven, rooty sections that make it tricky for buggies and challenging for little legs – best suited to older children who are confident walkers. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. A rewarding short climb that punches above its weight for panoramic Lake District scenery without the crowds of bigger peaks.

Lanthwaite Wood and Crummock Water Walk, North Lakes Outdoors

Loops through National Trust woodland and along Crummock Water's western shore, offering stunning lake and fell views with minimal elevation gain. Mostly flat with one gentle climb through Lanthwaite Wood on well-maintained paths, though some sections can be muddy after rain. Not suitable for buggies due to tree roots and uneven terrain, but manageable for older children who can handle 6km. Dogs welcome throughout.
