The smell of toast drifts up the stairs on a Sunday morning, and outside the window the Severn Valley stretches green and quiet beyond the rooftops of this old Shropshire market town.

This is one for couples after a proper bed and a cooked breakfast, or anyone using Ironbridge and the surrounding heritage sites as a base without wanting full camping commitment. There's a camping pod too if you'd rather sleep outdoors but keep a roof overhead—useful for shoulder seasons or if the weather turns. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so worth asking when you book if you're travelling with one. Broseley itself sits just above the Ironbridge Gorge, birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, with riverside walks and museum trails all around.

It's a straightforward guest house setup—comfortable, year-round, nothing fancy. Check about campfires when you arrive if you're in the pod. The vibe is low-key and practical, ideal if you want a gentle base for exploring Shropshire's wooded valleys without pitching a tent in the rain.

George Maw Trail, Benthall Hall

Loops through National Trust woodland and meadows around Benthall Hall with gentle to moderate inclines and some uneven ground. The 6km circuit suits older children and reasonably fit families, but narrow paths and stiles make it unsuitable for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and the hall grounds. Worth it for seasonal wildflowers, ancient trees, and glimpses of Ironbridge Gorge—named after Victorian botanist George Maw who lived at Benthall.
