West Highland Way (High Route to Fort William)

Tackles steep, rugged terrain with significant ascent through dramatic Highland landscapes—this is the challenging alternative finale to the West Highland Way. Not suitable for young children or buggies due to rough, mountainous paths and exposed sections. Dogs welcome but must be fit and comfortable on demanding terrain. Crofters Woods Walk

Meanders through mixed woodland on well-maintained paths with gentle gradients, ideal for families and pushchair-friendly in dry conditions. Dogs welcome on leads to protect ground-nesting birds. The woods offer peaceful shade, seasonal wildflowers, and glimpses of Highland scenery through the trees—a lovely short woodland wander near Ballachulish, perfect for stretching legs between adventures or introducing little ones to forest walks without tackling serious Highland terrain.
