It suits tourers exploring the western Highlands — couples ticking off castles and distilleries, families using it as a base for Argyll Forest Park, and anyone with a dog who fancies proper walks straight from the pitch. The town itself is a ten-minute stroll, all Georgian white-washed buildings and that famous turreted castle, and you're well-placed for the Rest and Be Thankful pass or a run up to Oban.

Onsite you've got showers and toilets, and dogs are welcome throughout. It's a no-frills, park-up-and-go kind of place — peaceful enough in the evenings, practical rather than fancy. Check about campfires when you arrive; policies can vary. The vibe is quiet and old-school Scottish touring, with midges in summer and that particular Highland stillness when the weather closes in.
