Coilhallan wood

Winds through mixed woodland with gentle to moderate inclines, offering peaceful forest trails and glimpses of the surrounding Stirlingshire countryside. Suitable for families with older children who can manage uneven woodland paths and tree roots, though not ideal for buggies. Dogs welcome and will love the natural terrain. A lovely escape for spotting wildlife, enjoying dappled shade, and breathing in that earthy woodland air—perfect for a leg-stretch between campsites.

The Meadows

Meanders through flat parkland and riverside paths ideal for buggies, toddlers and dogs. Gentle terrain with no steep sections makes this perfect for a relaxed family stroll. Lovely for spotting ducks along the water and letting kids run freely on open grass. A simple, accessible route that gives everyone a proper leg-stretch without the challenge.

Lower Crags

Climbs steadily through mixed woodland to dramatic volcanic crags with panoramic views across the Campsie Fells and Stirling plain. The ascent is moderately steep with uneven, rocky sections near the summit, making it unsuitable for buggies and challenging for very young children. Dogs welcome but keep close on narrow cliff-edge paths. Worth it for the stunning geology and far-reaching vistas that reward the effort—a classic Scottish hillside scramble.
