Luibleathann

The wind hisses through the heather, and somewhere below you'll hear the burn tumbling over granite—Luibleathann bothy sits high in raw mountain country, miles from the nearest tarmac.

This is proper wilderness camping for self-sufficient folk: hillwalkers tackling the big peaks, bothyers after shelter on multi-day treks, anyone comfortable with no facilities and navigation by map. You can pitch a tent on the moorland nearby or take refuge in the stone hut itself—first-come basis, as bothies always are. Dogs are welcome but check the policy before you set off. The remoteness is the whole point here: no one's coming round with a wheelie bin or a shower block key.

Campfires depend on the current fire risk and bothy code, so ask when you arrive or check online before you leave. It's open all year, though winter up here is serious business—pack accordingly. Expect midges in summer, silence always, and stars so thick you'll lose count. This is Scotland at its most uncompromising and most beautiful.
