Windermere village is right on your doorstep — jetties, cafés, the steamer pier — and you're ideally placed for both the eastern ridges and the quieter valleys that run west toward Langdale. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so worth asking ahead if you're bringing yours.

The place runs year-round, which is rare for smaller sites and makes it a good shout for winter walking weekends when most campsites have closed their gates.
