Teesdale Way (Dufton to Middleton in Teesdale)

Follows the dramatic upper reaches of the River Tees through open moorland and riverside meadows with moderate, sometimes steep climbs over exposed terrain. Not suitable for buggies; older children who can handle distance will enjoy the waterfalls and wildlife. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near livestock. Rewards walkers with stunning dales scenery, including High Force waterfall if you detour, plus genuinely remote countryside that feels miles from civilisation.

Stretches 160km across the North Pennines from Skipton to Penrith, following 17th-century routes used by Lady Anne Clifford. Terrain varies from riverside paths to moorland climbs with some steep, exposed sections – stamina and navigation skills essential. Not suitable for buggies or young children due to length and difficulty. Dogs welcome but expect livestock, particularly sheep, throughout. Offers remote countryside, historic castles, and genuine solitude across Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valle
