The Lune Valley rolls out in every direction from this North Lancashire farm, with the fells of the Yorkshire Dales dark on the eastern skyline and the Forest of Bowland rising to the south.

Box Tree Farm welcomes tents and campervans, and while the facility list isn't spelled out in detail, the working farm setting and 'glamping' name suggest something between proper camping and a bit of shelter — best to ask what's actually on offer when you book. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so check ahead if you're bringing yours. This is proper Lancashire border country, close enough to the Lakes for a day trip but quieter and less trampled, popular with walkers doing the Lune Valley Ramble and anyone who prefers their camping with a bit of agricultural honesty.

Campfires are allowed but need checking on arrival — farm rules, sensible really. Expect a low-key, rural stay with space to breathe and not much between you and the weather. If you like your campsites straightforward and unfussy, this one delivers.
