Ireby sits on the northern edge of the Lake District, less trampled than Keswick or Ambleside, with the Back o'Skiddaw fells rising to the south and the Solway plain stretching north. It's a good base for walkers who prefer their paths empty and their pubs local.

Wifi's available if you need it, though signal can be patchy this side of the lakes. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, so check when you book. Campfires depend on conditions — ask when you arrive rather than assuming. Open all year, which means you can have this place under snow or summer sun, and either way that beck keeps talking.
