South West Coast Path (Section 38: Bigbury on Sea to Salcombe)

Follows dramatic clifftops with steep, sustained ascents and descents through remote coastal terrain—definitely not suitable for buggies or young children. Dogs welcome but keep on leads near cliff edges and livestock. Rewards effort with stunning views across Bigbury Bay, secluded coves, and the picturesque Salcombe estuary. This section demands good fitness and proper footwear for challenging, uneven paths with significant elevation changes.

South West Coast Path (Section 39: Salcombe to Torcross)

Hugs the spectacular coastline between two historic Devon ports with sustained steep climbs and descents over rugged headlands. Not suitable for buggies or young children due to challenging terrain, cliff-edge sections, and multiple steep ascents. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and cliff edges. Rewards effort with stunning views over Salcombe estuary, remote coves, and Start Bay, plus picturesque villages like East Portlemouth and Beesands en route.
