Craigmonie Trail

Winds through woodland and open hillside near Inverness with gentle to moderate inclines, offering lovely views over the Beauly Firth. The trail surface varies from wide forest tracks to narrower woodland paths—doable with older children but not suitable for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads where livestock may graze. A peaceful escape that showcases Highland scenery without the full mountain commitment, perfect for a couple of hours out.

Affric Kintail Way

Traverses dramatic Highland scenery from Drumnadrochit to Morvich, combining glen tracks, forest paths and remote moorland sections with significant ascents and descents. Definitely not suitable for buggies or young children—this is a challenging multi-day route requiring hillwalking experience and proper kit.
