John Muir Way (Edinburgh to Prestonpans)
Follows the Scottish coast east from Edinburgh's Meadowbank through Portobello, Musselburgh and Prestonpans, predominantly flat on tarmac paths and promenade. Excellent for families, buggies and dogs – largely traffic-free with beach access points throughout. Passes historic sites including Pinkie House and salt pans, with constant Firth of Forth views. Can tackle shorter sections easily; Portobello to Musselburgh particularly popular for seaside strolls and ice cream stops.
