Causey Mounth
Follows an ancient drove road through the Mounth hills between Deeside and Stonehaven, with steep, sustained climbs reaching around 450m elevation. Challenging terrain with rough, often boggy sections makes it unsuitable for buggies and young children—best for experienced walkers with proper boots. Dogs welcome but keep close during lambing season. Rewards effort with dramatic Highland views, historical drove road markers, and a genuine sense of remoteness along this centuries-old trading route
