The Wye slips past just beyond the lawn, and if you wake early enough you'll hear it before you see it — that low, constant whisper over stone that makes you want to stay in bed just a bit longer.

This one's more retreat than campsite. The camping pods suit couples after a quiet weekend or walkers tackling the Wye Valley who don't fancy wrestling tent pegs after a long day on the hills. The guest house rooms add a bit of flexibility if the weather turns or you're introducing someone gently to the idea of sleeping outdoors. It's very much Wye Valley territory here — wooded gorges, riverside paths, and that particular kind of stillness you only get near big, old rivers.

Facilities aren't listed in detail, so worth ringing ahead to check what's included with your pod. Dogs are a maybe — ask when you book. Campfires need checking on arrival, which usually means they'll point you to a firepit or advise based on conditions. It's open all year, so spring and autumn are lovely if you want the river mostly to yourself. Feels more like a stopover with a view than a full-on campsite, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
