South West Coast Path (Section 39: Salcombe to Torcross)

Follows dramatic clifftops with steep ascents and descents between picturesque estuary and sweeping bay, passing through Prawle Point (Devon's southernmost tip). Challenging terrain unsuitable for buggies or young children due to significant elevation changes and exposed cliff edges. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and cliff sections. Rewards with stunning coastal panoramas, secluded coves, and some of the South West's most unspoilt maritime scenery.

South West Coast Path (Section 40: Torcross to Dartmouth)

Follows dramatic clifftops and sheltered coves between Torcross and Dartmouth, with steep ascents and descents throughout – definitely not buggy-friendly. The route climbs sharply from sea level to windswept headlands, then drops back down repeatedly, demanding good fitness. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and during bird nesting season. Rewards effort with spectacular views across Start Bay, secluded beaches at Blackpool Sands, and a memorable arrival into historic Dartmouth harbour. Best

Diamond Jubilee Way

Loops through South Devon's gentle countryside between Dartmouth and Kingswear, hugging the coast with stunning estuary views and dipping inland through wooded valleys. Mostly flat to gently undulating terrain on clear paths, though some sections can be muddy after rain. Suitable for older children and confident walkers, but narrow clifftop stretches and stiles make it tricky for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock.
