The Trothy Brook runs right along the bottom of the site, and on still mornings you'll hear nothing but that and the birds waking up in the ash trees.

This is a proper small Welsh valley site — twelve pitches tucked into a meadow with space for tents, campervans and caravans. It suits couples after a quiet base for the Brecon Beacons or Black Mountains, and anyone who wants Monmouthshire's river valleys and market towns without the crowds. Dog walkers will appreciate the footpaths that run straight from the gate, though you'll need to check the site's policy when you book.

Facilities are straightforward — toilets and showers onsite, year-round opening, and you can ask about campfires when you arrive. It's a low-key, friendly sort of place where you pitch up, settle in, and let the sound of the stream do the rest.
