Dogs welcome but keep on leads near grazing livestock. The dramatic ridge and ancient folklore surrounding this isolated peak make it a memorable half-day adventur

Clytha Short Circular Walk in the Usk Valley, East Wales

Loops through gentle rolling farmland and woodland in the Usk Valley with moderate inclines throughout. Suitable for older children but narrow paths and stiles make it tricky for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. The highlight is Clytha Castle, a romantic 19th-century folly with valley views, plus peaceful woodland sections and open countryside typical of this picturesque corner of Monmouthshire.

Loops through mixed woodland and open farmland with moderate climbs—expect some steep sections around Clytha Park and Coed y Bwnydd. Not suitable for buggies or very young children due to uneven forest paths, stiles, and muddy stretches after rain. Dogs welcome throughout this National Trust route. Worth it for the varied landscape, ancient woodlands rich with wildlife, and glimpses of Clytha Castle folly commanding valley views.
