The rush of the Afon Clywedog fills the air before you've even pitched your tent, a constant companion that lulls campers to sleep beneath Snowdonia's star-scattered skies. This straightforward campsite sits in the heart of Gwynedd, perfectly positioned for exploring the dramatic landscapes of North Wales, from Cader Idris to the coast.

Torrent Walk Campsite welcomes tents, campervans, and caravans, making it a flexible base for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts keen to tackle the region's legendary walking trails. The famous Torrent Walk itself—a Victorian-era path threading through ancient woodland alongside waterfalls and rapids—is quite literally on your doorstep.

Facilities are kept simple with toilets and showers provided, whilst the campfire policy can be confirmed on arrival, so it's worth asking if you fancy an evening gathered around the flames. The atmosphere here is refreshingly unpretentious, with the natural beauty of the river gorge and surrounding mountains providing all the entertainment you need. It's the kind of place where the landscape does the talking.

New Precipice Walk

Clings to dramatic cliffsides above Cynyfall Stream with sheer drops and exposed sections – definitely not suitable for young children, buggies, or nervous walkers. The terrain is uneven with steep inclines and narrow passages carved into rock faces, but the reward is spectacular views across the Mawddach Estuary and Cader Idris. Dogs allowed but must be closely controlled due to precipitous edges. A thrilling route for confident walkers seeking breathtaking scenery in Snowdonia's quieter corner

Precipice Walk

Clings to a dramatic cliff edge above Llyn Cynwch with sheer drops and stunning Snowdonia views. Steep in places with uneven, narrow sections right beside precipices—definitely not suitable for buggies, very young children, or nervous walkers. Dogs allowed but must be kept close and under control. The spectacular, vertiginous scenery and sense of exposure make this one of North Wales' most memorable short walks.

Fox's Path

Winds through varied terrain with moderate inclines and some steeper sections, best suited for older children and confident walkers rather than buggies. Dogs welcome on leads where livestock graze. The path offers classic Welsh border countryside with mixed woodland, open fields, and likely far-reaching views across Shropshire's rolling hills. Expect stiles and potentially muddy patches after rain, making proper walking boots essential for enjoying this peaceful rural route.
