Offers peaceful waterside walking with views toward the Lake District fells, plus the chance to spot riverside wildlife and visit historic Brougham Castle en route.

Ullswater Way - Dalemain Loop

Circles Dalemain's historic estate and surrounding farmland with gentle to moderate inclines through pasture and woodland paths. Mostly well-maintained tracks suitable for confident walkers with older children, though some stiles and potentially muddy sections make it tricky for buggies. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Worth it for glimpses of the grand Georgian mansion, deer park views, and connecting onto longer Ullswater Way sections if you fancy extending your ramble from the campsite.

Ullswater Way - Lowther Castle Loop

Loops through the parkland of historic Lowther Castle, mixing level woodland paths with gentle undulations across open grassland. Suitable for families and accessible for sturdy all-terrain buggies on drier days, though some sections can get muddy after rain. Dogs welcome but keep them under control near grazing livestock. The ruined Gothic castle and deer park provide atmospheric scenery, with red squirrels often spotted in the wooded areas—worth it for the heritage and wildlife.
