South West Coast Path (Section 38: Bigbury on Sea to Salcombe)

Follows dramatic clifftops between two popular South Devon destinations, with steep ascents and descents throughout—not suitable for buggies or very young children. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Traverses rugged headlands including Bolt Head with stunning views across Salcombe estuary, passing secluded coves and the atmospheric ruins of Salcombe Castle. Challenging coastal terrain rewards with some of Devon's finest seascapes and wildlife spotting opportunities.

South West Coast Path (Section 39: Salcombe to Torcross)

Hugs dramatic coastline between two South Devon villages with steep, relentless ascents and descents throughout—definitely not buggy-friendly and challenging for young children. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Expect rugged cliff-top paths, occasional shingle beaches, and stunning views across Start Bay. The terrain demands good fitness, but rewards with some of Devon's most spectacular coastal scenery, passing secluded coves and the photogenic ruins at Hallsands village clinging to cliffs

Avon Estuary Walk

Follows the Avon Estuary through South Devon, mostly flat with gentle sections along riverside paths and country lanes. Suitable for families with older children who can manage uneven ground and stiles, but not buggy-friendly due to terrain. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and wildlife areas. Rewards you with estuary views, birdwatching opportunities, and peaceful waterside scenery away from crowds—a lovely low-key ramble through classic Devon countryside.
