South West Coast Path (Section 38: Bigbury on Sea to Salcombe)

Follows dramatic clifftops between two picturesque estuaries, with steep ascents and descents throughout – challenging terrain unsuitable for buggies or young children. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock. Rewards effort with stunning views across Bigbury Bay, secluded coves, and the approach to beautiful Salcombe harbour. Notable climbs at Bolt Tail and Bolt Head offer some of Devon's finest coastal panoramas. Allow 6-7 hours for this demanding but spectacular stretch.

South West Coast Path (Section 39: Salcombe to Torcross)

Traces dramatic Devon coastline with **steep, sustained climbs** and rocky descents between picturesque harbours—definitely challenging terrain unsuitable for buggies or very young children. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and clifftops. Rewards effort with stunning views across Start Bay, secluded coves, and the photogenic ruins of Hallsands village clinging to cliffs. Pack water and allow plenty of time for the elevation changes.

Avon Estuary Walk

Follows the scenic Avon Estuary through varied terrain including riverside paths, wooded sections, and some undulating stretches with moderate inclines. Suitable for older children but not buggy-friendly due to uneven surfaces and occasional steps. Dogs welcome on leads, particularly near wildlife areas. Offers excellent estuary views, birdwatching opportunities, and glimpses of South Devon's maritime heritage. Best at low tide when mudflats reveal wading birds and the full character of this tid
