Delivers sweeping views across the Torridge estuary to Appledore, with beach access, rockpools, and the dramatic clifftop approach to Westward Ho!'s pebble ridge. Easy, breezy coastal walking with ice cream stops and plenty of benches—ideal for little legs and a proper seaside stroll.

Appledore Community Trail

Loops through the picturesque North Devon village of Appledore, mostly flat with gentle inclines on pavered streets and waterfront paths. Perfect for families with buggies and young children – it's essentially a heritage walk around cobbled lanes, the quayside, and residential areas. Dogs welcome throughout. Worth doing for the maritime atmosphere, colourful fishermen's cottages, estuary views across to Instow, and insight into this historic shipbuilding community's character.

South West Coast Path (Section 8: Westward Ho! to Clovelly)

Follows the dramatic North Devon coastline with steep ascents and descents through woodland and open clifftops—challenging terrain unsuitable for buggies or very young children. Dogs welcome on leads near livestock and cliff edges. Rewards effort with stunning views across Bideford Bay, secluded coves, and the picturesque harbour village of Clovelly with its cobbled streets tumbling down to the sea. Best tackled by confident walkers prepared for serious gradients.
