Cemlyn Shingle Ridge Walk, Anglesey

Follows a striking natural shingle ridge between lagoon and sea on Anglesey's dramatic north coast, with flat, easy terrain suitable for families and buggies on firm paths. Dogs welcome on leads to protect nesting terns (April-August). The lagoon hosts one of the UK's most important tern colonies, plus oystercatchers and other seabirds year-round. Spectacular views across to the Skerries lighthouse and Irish Sea make this a wildlife-watcher's gem.

Loops around a dramatic shingle ridge enclosing a lagoon that's home to nesting terns and waders. Flat coastal terrain with some loose stones underfoot—manageable for most families but not buggy-friendly due to the shingle. Dogs welcome but must be on leads during bird breeding season (April-August). Short but spectacularly wild, with sweeping views across the Menai Strait and excellent birdwatching opportunities from National Trust hides.

Worth it for the dramatic views across the Irish Sea and the chance to spot rare seabirds at one of Wales' most important coastal nature reserves.
